2018 River Medway Clean Up
The 2018 River Medway Clean Up will take place on Sunday 29th April. This will focus on Yalding , but groups can take on any stretch of the river they like, but in order to simplify things we need one “drop off poin
t” for all our spoils so that the EA can collect it efficiently in a day boat.
I will now post this on Meridian and WAM FB pages (and possibly websites) and also contact British Canoeing and Paddlers against Pollution, to try and gain the maximum publicity for our efforts.
Please feel free to ask questions and make suggestions that will help us to make this date both and an enjoyable and worthwhile venture.
French Whitewater trip
Come and join WAM members and Kayaking Mates for a week of warm water paddling! All welcome.
This is a week’s whitewater trip to the Course, Espace Eau Vive, Isle de la Serre, midway between Geneva and Lyon, from Saturday 14th July 2018.
The course is suited to surfing and flat spinning, ideal for paddlers who enjoy playing on waves. You would need to be confident on the Dart Loop to enjoy the entire course. There is a flattish bottom section for paddlers not at this level, but the ability to self-rescue would be useful.
The course is constructed in a loop, so one has minimal walking with the boat. There are other adrenalin-filled activities such as hydro-speeding. One can, of course, just river-run the course if one wants to.
We will also be visiting the course at Saint Pierre Boeuf on the other side of Lyon.
Accommodation is on the campsite adjacent to the course. No real shade so bring your own! Prices are extremely cheap : camping is 5 euros per person per night for a group of 6 or more. Water access is 4 euros per day. Electric hook-up is additional.
One warning: the toilet facilities are mainly stand-up.
The course is midway between Lyon and Geneva – 38390 Porcieu, at Sault Brenaz, just past Bourg en Bresse ie a distance of c550 miles. Google Espace Eau Vive.

Fuel and tolls are the most expensive items on this trip.
